Dental FAQs in The Woodlands, TX

Read answers to some of the most common questions patients have below:

How can I treat dental anxiety?

If you suffer from dental anxiety, you can benefit from dental sedation. Our dental office offers nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation to ensure pain-free and relaxing treatment. We also provide a comfortable environment for our patients when they visit our office. Our office has televisions in our operatories, where patients can watch Netflix.

How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?

Your teeth should be examined and cleaned at least every six months. We may recommend more frequent visits depending on your specific needs. For instance, we often recommend deep cleanings for patients with chronic gum disease more frequently than regular cleanings for healthy teeth and gums.

Can I visit the dentist if I’m pregnant?

We encourage pregnant women to visit the dentist, especially for routine care. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can increase a person’s risk of gingivitis or gum inflammation. If gingivitis turns into periodontitis, pregnant people can experience gum pain, irritation, and potentially deep gum pockets. Most dental treatments are safe for pregnant patients, including restorative and diagnostic treatments. Radiographs are also safe because we use aprons to protect the thyroid and abdomen.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

We can treat emergency dental problems, including dental injuries, knocked-out teeth, severe tooth pain, and broken or lost dental restorations. Do not try to treat these problems on your own. Please contact our office, and we will provide you with instructions to follow before your appointment.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Modern digital X-rays produce a significantly lower radiation level than traditional dental X-rays. Digital X-rays capture images of the teeth, gums, and jaw electronically. This eliminates the need for development and the disposal of harmful waste and chemicals into the environment. We still take necessary precautions to limit the patient’s exposure to radiation, providing lead aprons for extra protection.
